“Shirts and Shoes Required”
We’ve all seen those signs. As a kid this greatly offended me because I had a very little appreciation for either.
Unfortunately for you, more than shirts and shoes will be required to get this baby off the ground and up and running. Many things are required to lead your Church Plant well but without question CHANGE is near the top of the list. Becoming a leader who is ok with change and creating a staff and church ethos that appreciates change are essential.
When you said YES to God to plant this church, you also said YES to change but here’s the good news. On the other side of change is the opportunity for growth. Over the past 6 years I’ve had to change almost everything. I’ve had to change my sermon prep and delivery. I’ve had to change the location of our church office. I’ve had to change service times and service locations. I’ve had to change weekly routines and workouts to get more energy. I’ve had to change our strategy and hardest of all, I’ve had to change myself. Change by its very nature is disruptive and difficult but with change comes the opportunity for growth.
If I know anything about the Church Planting journey I know this, the question isn’t will you need to change, the question is will you seize the opportunity to grow?
Here’s to change, here’s to growth!
